Job Sites on the Web
The following are links to job sites on the web with a brief description of how they work. When you click on the name of a job site, it will open in a new web page.
General Job Sites
SimplyHired - This site collects jobs from all over the Internet and is a must for any job-seeker. To do a simple search, just plug in a word and a zip code (for the locality you’re searching). It’ll bring up a set of matches from all over the web. You can also do more advanced searched (setting out specific criteria — such as words you want to have in the job title field). And you can sign up for email alerts for specific job searches you set up.
Indeed - This site is similar to SimplyHired in that it scours the Internet for relevant jobs and collects them here. It’s another good starting point in a job search.
CareerBuilder - This is a general job site.
HotJobs - Another general job site.
LinkedIn - This site has the added benefit of identifying people in your LinkedIn network who have a connection to the employer who has listed a particular position. It offers you a way (by using your network) to get in touch with people who already work for, or know about, the potential employer. Very handy. It may not get you the job, but it may help you to get an interview.
USAJOBS - The official job site of the United States Federal Government. A nice central site for federal government jobs.
Craigslist - Lots of jobs all over the world. First pick your desired geographic location and then click on the job category.
Jobs in Associations
American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) - Career Headquarters - Good source of listings for people who want to get a job in an association.
CEOUpdate - Subscription source of CEO and senior staff jobs in associations. When you subscribe, you get a paper copy of the update as well as internet access to listings and articles.
